Spice, Citrus, and Sunset Light: 66 Unexpected Ways to Style Your Summer Kitchen

During the golden twilight of summer, the feeling of warmth, zest, and effortless beauty surround us. Imagine your kitchen with an aroma of spices, the lively note of citrus, and the peaceful feeling of a sunset. Whether you’re looking to refresh your space with small accents or completely transform its mood, this guide offers 66 unexpected and inspired ways to style your kitchen for the season. Highlighting greens and citrus fruit in your kitchen décor, you can turn it into a wonderfully aromatic and summery refuge even in the last moments of summer.

Embrace The Warm Glow Of Terracotta Cabinetry

Putting in terracotta cabinets has always been a small detail that truly changes the atmosphere in the kitchen. Sunbaked tile and the rustic feel make the space seem warm and welcoming especially in the summer. This decor goes well in open areas as it shows the sunlight, making the cabinetry appear brighter and deeper. White stone countertops and brass fixtures increase the beauty of a cooking area.

Usually, I go with flat-panel cabinets that have a soft matte finish in terracotta to prevent the design from appearing too rustic. Brushed gold or aged brass handles offer a lovely shine, while fitting right into the design. Walnut or recycled wood open shelves blend well with the spice-inspired cabinets, and the woven pendant lights bring more style to the room. You can make your kitchen feel airy by having some cabinets and some with open shelves.

I suggested terracotta to clients who preferred a warmer look than what cherry or wooden shades provide. According to House Beautiful, terracotta’s resurgence is due to its versatility—it works equally well in Mediterranean, minimalist, or eclectic interiors. I have found that when you cook a lot during summer, it becomes obvious that fingerprints don’t stick as much on brown cabinets as on white or black.

To improve the look of the design, think about having a backsplash that resembles a sunset or an accent wall in a saffron color. Putting indoor herbs in brass or ceramic pots will enhance the summery earthy style.

Zest Up The Space With Lemon-Yellow Counter Stools

If decorating a kitchen in yellow is your goal, few things are better than accessories like refreshing yellow counter stools. I usually suggest this idea to clients who are looking to update their neutral kitchen without spending a lot of money. Stool at a summer kitchen help to brighten up the space against wood, white wood, or stainless steel appliances.

Most of the time, I choose stools that have metal legs or wooden frames and have soft yellow seats. The purpose is to make the style look contemporary and add colors that remind us of summer citrus fruit. The yellow on this stone becomes more noticeable when placed at a light marble or white quartz island. Light blue and mint green go well with these outfits, since they match the summer’s entire palette.

Sitting on these counter stools makes me remember the joy I feel while cutting a lemon on a hot day. According to Better Homes & Gardens, using yellow colors in a home’s interior boosts happiness and welcomes people in the kitchen. It matches what I have found—clients often tell me how cheerful and bright their room is.

You could add wall art or a bowl of fruit that contains lemons or sunflowers to go with the general theme.

Infuse Energy With Burnt Orange Tile Backsplashes

The vibrant look I want comes out best when I use burnt orange instead of taking things too far. In the hot months, it looks lovely with wooden furniture, black fixtures, and shelves that are open rather than closed. The use of burnt orange for the backsplash gives the room more energy while connecting it to warming embers or the warm shadows of the setting sun.

Burnt orange hand-glazed tiles or mosaic hex tiled patterns appeal to me most. The way the tone changes makes the backsplash look more engaging. I choose to lay the tile onto the wall below the open shelving all the way to the ceiling. It matches with modern and Mediterranean kitchens and goes well with warm terracotta cabinets or even charcoal ones.

Because there was not much natural light in this kitchen, the tiles, plus the LED light strips, helped bring a hint of warmth so the place seemed well-lit. Architectural Digest calls it a “dopamine color” because it is creative and wonderful in a kitchen.

Should you want to enhance the design, I would go for natural stone countertops in warm beige or taupe to even out the whole appearance.

Accent With Paprika-Colored Open Shelving

Having open shelving in mellow paprika is one little thing I enjoy bringing to kitchens, and it brings just the right touch of color for summer settings. Shelves are different from solid cabinets as they clear the view and give you space to put your favorite objects on display. The shade of paprika enhance the look of your room and gives it more refined feel, especially when wall is neutral or tiled.

My preference is for floating shelves in lacquered or powder-coated metal if you’re going for an industrial feel, or warm-stained wood for something more organic. These plates usually go well with copper items, white or pale yellow ceramic dishes, and some potted herbs. With clear lighting on the shelves, they won’t end up looking less important.

I saw paprika shelves in my first look at Domino Magazine and have repeated that idea ever since. Unlike cabinets, they are simple to change and have the power to turn your kitchen into something unique in no time. People usually feel that these are a familiar way to start experimenting with color.

Try to put these shelves up against a textured or patterned backsplash, because it will enhance the appearance of the paprika tone. Displaying a bright citrus artwork somewhere in the area is also a good idea.

Juicy Tangerine Walls For A Bold Summer Statement

Most people pay little attention to walls in their kitchens, but painting them a tangerine hue makes a huge difference. The warm and cheerful effect shows the lively atmosphere of fruit stands on tropical summer days. I usually suggest it to people who look forward to excitement but prefer something they can still live with, especially In white or natural-finished kitchens.

I have chosen to use eggshell paint in tangerine that has undertones of coral or apricot. The shade will look balanced under daylight when you do it this way. When combined with white cupboards, gold details, or marble, the wall presents nearly sparkling, yet still neat and appealing, colors. Having chrome or black metal touches helps to tone down the brightness and make everything look more even.

I applied this approach in places where space for appliances was not much. It was definitely twice as awesome and twice as special. Elle Decor says that colors like tangerine in kitchens are becoming popular, mainly because they easily make a small space lively.

What’s missing? Adding woven Roman blinds, a colorful rug with blocks of colors, or a large piece of art featuring bright citrus would match the theme and feel of the area.

Mix Spicy Reds And Deep Coral Tones On Kitchen Islands

Painting your kitchen island in contrasting colors is a simple approach to add spicy touches such as hot red pepper, paprika, and deep coral. I have created many summer kitchens that have large islands that catch your attention right away. An island is especially useful in open floor plans, since it helps link the living and dining areas.

The cabinet finishes I like are matte deep coral or glossy red pepper. Light countertops such as white quartz or butcher block make a nice contrast when used with these. The brass or black hardware finish creates a neat and polished look for the island. I make sure there are proper seats with warm colors to ensure the interior remains feel comfortable and lively.

I have observed that this idea benefits both farmhouse and minimalist homes a lot. HGTV’s advice is to connect the island’s palette with near-by items like accessories, rugs, or even wall hangings.

For a more elevated look, I’d include a statement light fixture above the island and possibly a runner rug with subtle spice-toned patterns to echo the island’s palette.

Layer Natural Light With Sheer Sunset Drapes

Since the light matters greatly in a summer kitchen, placing sheer drapes with sunset colors brings balance and does not block the sunlight. These insect screens are most often installed in kitchens which have large windows or doors. The effect is sensually poetic, as the room looks bathed in late-day light, thanks to golden hour. This is one of my most useful lazy yet effective ideas for summer outfit choices.

My usual choice for drapes is lightweight cloth made of linen or cotton blend, and I go with gradients of peach, coral, saffron, and rose gold. The curtains should be full length and hung far from the wall to let light in when you use them. Because of the folds in natural fabrics, the kitchen becomes soft and graceful, balancing the hardness of the cabinets and appliances.

The coastal kitchen with white walls and blue accents was made even better by this approach. In the New York Times Style Magazine, sunset drapes were called “light’s wardrobe,” and I completely agree because they brighten a space unlike other types of drapes.

If you want to complete the style, hang wicker lights, use a woven rug, or pick a sunburst mirror to enrich the pleasant tones in the room.

Highlight Citrus With Citrus Fruit Display Stations

Place a citrus fruit showcase in your summer kitchen to make it both work well and look attractive. Often, I advise choosing a spot on a side counter or island corner for having bowls of lemons, oranges, and limes for both beauty and ready-to-eat snacks. Thanks to their lively colors, kitchens look more energized and stay full of life.

I prefer to use several ceramic or glass bowls arranged in uneven heights and layers, white or light green is what I like best. A wood tray or a marble slab on the countertop helps you separate the zone. For the infused water, I usually keep a citrus zester, classic juicer, or pretty glass bottles handy to make everything look useful. If space is cramped, a tiered stand will be very helpful.

A client’s small kitchen got more purpose and joy after I placed a citrus station there. I totally agree with Southern Living, which explains that fruit displays can be creative as well as useful. Healthier choices at snack time are also promoted by eating fruits, so it’s a definite plus.

You could make the room more vivid by putting up a wallpaper of citrus or displaying cluster of lemon or orange illustrations together in frames.

Spice It Up With Saffron Ceiling Paint

If you’re looking for a truly unexpected way to warm up your summer kitchen, try painting the ceiling in a soft saffron. Because of its soft, golden color, the ceiling looks inviting and enhances the room’s brightness. It gives extra depth to any kitchen with plain or pale decor, without the fear of it looking overdone.

Try to use a low-sheen or satin paint finish, since it transmits light softly. To balance the color of the saffron ceiling, I had off-white walls, sand-colored ones, oak cabinets, and backsplashes made of natural stone. The merging of these colors creates a sunrise look that highlights morning light in a lovely way. Wooden beams or thin molding in a matching shade can make the room look more like a home.

My mentor picked this technique for a kitchen with a Spanish-style bungalow design. Veranda Magazine reports that people are choosing to paint their ceilings with warm colors like saffron and ochre.

What would give this outfit a final touch? Adding some skylights or preference lighting will highlight the color of your wall, as we can also include woven fixtures to make the area look lovely and interesting.

Style A Sunset-Hued Breakfast Nook

Having a sunset-colored breakfast area is lovely, as it makes you feel warmth and comfort as soon as you wake up. This look is made possible by using peachy and pale amber hues mixed with coral. Choosing a place by a window is the best option, especially since it gets the morning or evening sunlight.

I create this vibe by choosing a bench furnished with blush or terracotta that has a light wood pedestal table by its side. These cushions cover in sunset prints are both comfortable and beautiful. A pastel ombré palette or an abstract piece of art is displayed on the wall to mantle the spot visually. Having bamboo blinds and a rattan pendant lamp unifies the overall style of the space.

I use this design again and again in homes I do for clients. As Domino Magazine once noted, “the breakfast nook is where warmth meets ritual,” and I fully agree with you. Clients mention to me that they enjoy having morning coffee or afternoon tea in their space most of all.

Some things I could do to improve it further are getting a wall clock from the vintage era, setting up succulent planters, or installing a faux bench with room for storage.

Use Chili-Pepper Pendant Lighting As A Focal Point

Any kitchen’s feel comes from its lighting, and chili-pepper red pendant lights bring in the perfect dash of style without leaving the rest of the area feeling out of balance. They make beautiful art pieces and brighten a space at the same time. To make the area look bolder and lively, I decided to put these dining counters in the center.

I favour items that feature smooth finishes or colorful glass that is blown by hand. Evenly hangings a trio of pendant lights above an island help the room in terms of rhythm and symmetry. If the red stones are teamed with bronze chains or matte black coverings, it looks much more refined. To let the pendants stand out, I prefer to have simple neutral cabinets and backsplashes.

There was a time when these LED lights changed a simple kitchen into a happenin’ area where everyone loved to be. Architectural Digest calls colored pendants “the statement earrings of the home”—and I fully agree. Intriguing without being too much to handle, prints are just flashy enough.

I’d balance the strong elements by adding a runner rug that is both soft and colorful or include some open shelves made of wood.

Bring The Outdoors In With Citrus Leaf Herb Gardens

No other element can make a kitchen come alive like real herbs, so a herb garden inspired by citrus leaves is perfect. In well-lit summer kitchens, using this design idea lets you admire the view and offers you fresh herbs for cooking. It’s similar to giving your décor a new and refreshing feel.

I choose to put slender wall planters or terracotta pots for basil, mint, thyme, and lemon verbena on my countertops. To enhance the room, I put hanging planters by the window and place small hydroponic kits in corners that aren’t used too much. Many times, I make cake labels or ceramic markers like the leaves of citrus fruits to match the herb-garden theme.

I use this trick in kitchens no matter their size, and it always adds new life to the room. Real Simple states that keeping herbs indoors benefits your food and your mental stress levels!

I think we could make this area better by using a green tile backsplash, offering wooden open shelves, and possibly installing a little prep sink nearby for keener rinsing of herbs.

Add Color With Spice-Inspired Ceramic Dishware

Each detail matters, and adding a set of spice-style ceramic dishes helps add brightness to your kitchen in no time. I usually tell clients to replace their regular dishes with ones that feature cinnamon, turmeric, paprika, and clove colors. Even though it doesn’t stand out much, the effect is important when shown on an open shelf or during a meal.

I enjoy ceramics that are glazed in a messy way, have dirt-like looks, or are not shiny for their handmade vibe. Combining bowls and plates that have similar color tones draws the attention of guests. Usually, I like to put them in noticeable spots such as glass cabinet doors or shelves out in the open to match the color scheme in the room.

At one point, I placed paprika bowls and turmeric mugs together and people talked about it right away. Elle Decor recommends trying out bold colors and trends in table settings because it is an easy option. I couldn’t agree more.

My next steps would be to place a spice rack in tones that match the kitchen, use some beautiful woven placemats, and hang dried herb bundles to add an authentic kitchen touch.

Go Bold With Blood Orange Patterned Flooring

Usually, people pay little attention to their floors, but a blood orange pattern on them can turn any kitchen into a special place. I find that bold tile patterns in blood orange and ivory colors fit in well in these designs. They allow you to show your style and cozy up your outdoor kitchen while keeping it tough and lasting.

Most of the time, I apply these floor tiles in geometric layouts or those inspired by Moroccan decor to keep the space centered. Adding gray or white cabinets, plain countertops, and wood details creates a good balance for the décor. Materials and their patterns on the floor are displayed while the space around it serves as support.

One of my most liked projects had a blood orange checkerboard floor guests always admired. According to HGTV, using bold colors in flooring will be popular in 2025, such as those in the range of orange, olive, and navy.

I suggest setting up neutral colored bar stools, a simple pendant light, and maybe a neutral rug to make walking in the space a bit more comfortable, avoiding stealing any attention.

Install Soft Amber Under-Cabinet Lighting

In designing, I use lighting to set the tone, and having soft amber lights under the cupboards is an easy way to brighten any kitchen with summer warmth. With this kind of warm light, the mood during cooking or hosting at night becomes extra nice and inviting. It serves to make the kitchen practical while also giving it a cozy feel, mainly needed in today’s modern and minimalist styles.

It works well to opt for slim LED light strips with dimming abilities. Place them under upper cabinets, mainly in places where most of your actions take place, such as near the prep zone and backsplash. Make the lighting in your studio amber instead of usual white to create a golden color. To ensure the light blends well, go for neutral paint colors where bold colors are found.

After putting amber light in my kitchen, the sharp edges of my marble and stainless appliances appeared softer. Home décor experts at House Beautiful say that ambient lights under the cabinets add value to your house and are convenient to use daily.

To give it one more touch, I’d add a light brush gold backsplash to make the amber light more visible in the kitchen.

Combine Apricot And Peach Accents For A Fresh Look

Mixture of apricot and peach on your foods highlights a fresh, summery feeling in your kitchen. They are gentle and have a feeling of warmth, but they never take over the space. I choose these colors for kitchens that get a strong light from the sun; they turn the entire room into a summery atmosphere.

Add pops of color first with accent items, for instance, bar stools in apricot, a light peach-colored pitcher, or light orange curtains made of linen. Another choice is to add apricot cabinet knobs or peach ceramic vases with herbs in them. They complement each other with light colored wood, white quartz, and materials found in nature.

These types of flavors cheer me up, making me imagine fresh fruit, having an outdoor brunch, and enjoying the warm weather. It is predicted by Elle Decor that these hues are becoming popular in 2025 since they make a room soft but not outdated. This design mixes the power of colors and great design flawlessly.

I could also use mint or soft white to help even out the orange in the design.

Use Warm Metallics Like Copper And Brass For A Glow

Whenever I want to give my kitchen an artisanal touch and summer atmosphere, I prefer brass and copper. Since they are warmer, these metallics can go with summer colors like turmeric, coral, and citrus, but chrome or silver would not match well with those hues.

I tend to show off my copper pots on the wall and team them with brass handles and faucet fixtures. Because of the message, users feel connected to each other without everything seeming too demanding. A brass pendant hanging above a kitchen island changes the room’s look and gives off a sparkling effect with little else added.

These metals give me the feeling of the outdoor kitchens in Mediterranean homes. Copper kitchen elements are on the rise again, said Architectural Digest, thanks to its beautiful look and ability to fight bacteria.

If anything’s missing from this section, I’d suggest trying a textured backsplash with metallic inlays or using a mixed-metal strategy by combining brushed and polished finishes for added depth.

Display Colorful Citrus Jars And Spice Canisters

If you want to echo summer’s lively colors, put containers filled with citrus fruits and spices on your open shelving. In my designs, I have put rows of preserved lemons in glass jars, spicy oils, and bright yellow turmeric to store and display, which is both easy to use and colorful.

Pick transparent jars that have either bamboo or cork as the tops for a neat shelf appearance. They can easily be filled with wonderful cookery items like dried oranges, pink Himalayan salt, or cinnamon sticks. Tiered holders or magnetic bars on the wall are good ways to display spices properly and stylishly.

By doing this, also means having stylish kitchenware. Better Homes & Gardens recommends stylish storage in the kitchen, and this method makes it possible. It’s another excellent method to arrange your space and match colors that are traditional for the season.

You could make the meal even better by adding rosemary or mint plants nearby, as they would add variety to the mix of spicy and sweet flavors.

Use Papaya-Toned Rugs To Ground The Space

Papaya-colored rugs balance out the strong or bright colors or designs in kitchens. I’ve used them in both small and large kitchens—they’re surprisingly versatile. The shade looks like an exotic fruit; it is a bit like burnt orange with a hint of soft coral.

I find that flat-weave or low-pile rugs made either from cotton or jute are ideal, both because they are strong and simple to clean. Choose rugs with light patterns or smooth textures because they will impress without looking overly detailed. A table in front of the sink or set below a central island gives the space definition.

I feel that this decorating touch makes the room feel more cozy, in spite of its usual rough surfaces. Domino Magazine recommends using warm-toned textiles to add “visual pause” in high-function rooms like the kitchen.

If I wanted to develop this design, I would use papaya-colored cushion covers with a similar window valance to make the room look more put together.

Make A Statement With Sunset Ombre Walls

No other way better represents the colors of a sunset than a wonderful ombre wall. Using colors like deep coral, soft apricot, and warm gold make the look more beautiful and give a true wow effect. It looks best in kitchens where a single wall is not included in the layout.

Paint your skirting with matte or eggshell paint and mix the colors using a soft sponge or roller to obtain a smooth blend. Use little floating shelves or thin brass sconces on the wall so the color changes remain the main focus.

When I followed this technique for a kitchen project, my clients were amazed because the area became bright and cheerful, even on days where it was cloudy. Lately, HGTV included ombre walls as one of the year’s biggest Instagram trends.

Going one step further, I would also try making the ombre match the pantry door or repeat the colors in pictures down the hall.

Pair Soft Lime With Bold Paprika For Contrast

Associating pale green lime paint with deep paprika makes a kitchen space come to life with color. I turn to this design style when a place looks plain and needs a new touch. Lime gives a lighter feel, while paprika helps bring the flavors together and makes everything strong.

Add a dash of lime to your murals or cabinets and some paprika to your place through textiles such as cushions, towels, or a bright accent tile. These two choices of tone mix well together without being too contrasting.

It really lively and keeps my attention because lime and paprika make me picture summer dishes, extra flavor, and outdoor fun. Real Simple says that mixing bold colors that are cool and warm is a popular trend in both modern and transitional kitchens.

My next tip would be to use lime in serving bowls and paprika in the color of the pitchers to blend the room with practical accessories.

Introduce Tropical Wood Tones For Earthy Warmth

Using tropical wood colors in your summer kitchen helps in building a warm and relaxed base for your brand-new seasonal theme. Usually, I guide people to select warm teak, mango wood, or acacia for their cabinets, shelving, and custom hoods. They have a calming effect and at the same time remind us of the flavors of dried spices and summer fruits.

Adding these materials can include using butcher block counters, wooden dining stools, or a rustic dining table beside the kitchen. In my opinion, having wide shelves made of tropical wood makes the kitchen look warm and cozy like a vacation spot. Connection is important, and you can make wooden furniture look more current by adding matte black or brass finishes.

In addition, adding a mango wood island in my design gave the whole look a boost. According to Veranda Magazine, tropical hardwoods are valued for their elegant looks and the fact that they can cope with humidity, another reason they are great for a hot and active kitchen.

You could add a matched serving tray or utensil organizer to increase the usefulness and look of the kitchen on top of enhancing its unity.

Decorate With Sunset-Colored Glassware Collections

Using glassware that has a sunset shade in coral, gold, amber, or pink helps show off your shelves and highlight everything you store. The combination of these colors looks especially amazing with the afternoon sun. Their cheerful feeling really shines through when simple glasses are clustered in summery colors.

You may like to use glasses that are either hand-blown or look like classic vintage designs in several heights. Try to display them in places where they receive sunlight, for example, on a shelf that is above a window or inside a cabinet with a light source behind them. Have fun by bringing in vases, bowls, and even decorative bottles to increase the look of your collection.

This trick keeps things elegant but still seems casual. According to Southern Living, adding colorful glassware to your kitchen elevates the space with a mix of nostalgia and trend-forward design—plus, it’s a great conversation starter.

Try putting the collection on a wooden tray and cover it with a citrus-themed runner to finish the table setting well.

Brighten The Room With Grapefruit-Inspired Art

I think treating the kitchen with the same care as other rooms can be done with stylish touches from art. Paintings or sculptures that feature grapefruit makes everything more cheerful and vibrant. No matter if it’s an older design, a present-day picture, or a watercolor painting, pictures of grapefruit are always refreshing to look at.

You will get the best results if you hang framed prints in the breakfast nook, over the pantry door, or just leaning against the backsplash. Let bright and soft pastel colors lighten up the room and bring a cheerful vibe. Meanwhile, pick frames made of light wood or white to achieve a sunny and easy look.

I often notice that clients ignore the idea of the kitchen as a place for decor and I believe it is really the place for eye-catching themes. Better Homes & Gardens recommends displaying produce pictures to encourage a better mood and boost an appetite for meals.

Another thing I’d like is an orange clock or linen towel to highlight the colors you can find in the artwork.

Incorporate Hand-Painted Citrus Tiles For Personality

Hand-painting citrus tiles is one of the things I love doing to make a summer kitchen feel unique. Using those tiles on the full backsplash or just choosing a few, you add craftsmanship and color in a way that stands out and makes you happy. Every tile in the mosaic offers a different story about lemons, oranges, or limes.

Most of the time, I place them in the area behind my stove or sink so they become the center of attention. Choose to line surfaces with white cabinets or natural wood to let the appeal of the tiles stand out. Picking terracotta or travertine floors adds to the Mediterranean look this design style offers.

Clients find this aspect of my services unique and wonderful. It seems tailored and attracts attention at first sight. House & Garden UK mentioned that nowadays, bright and bold citrus tiles are making a comeback because of artisanal style and travel-inspired design.

Another great idea is to have a local ceramic artist craft a set of tiles showing your loved ones’ favorite fruits or family dishes.

Add Life With Orange Marigold Floral Centerpieces

There’s no better way to put some life in your kitchen table or island than with fresh flowers, and orange marigolds are real stars in the summer. Their rich color mimics saffron and paprika—two spices often found in summer dishes—making them the perfect accent for this season’s kitchen decor.

Put marigolds in simple clay or glass vases. They work well when placed on the open shelves, on window sills, or on your kitchen table. I prefer making the arrangement special by filling it with marigolds as well as small branches of lemon or lime and greens from the season, for example, basil or mint.

Marigolds hold special symbolism to me, indicating they are bright, enthusiastic about the sun, and cherished in different parts of the world. Martha Stewart Living reports that marigolds are being praised as perfect flowers for warming up your kitchen this summer.

Another idea to make this section bigger is to add marigold-themed table linens or placemats nearby to show the theme without flooding the palette with color.

Create A Cozy Corner With Clay-Toned Cushions

During summer, it’s good for your kitchen to have an inviting atmosphere as well as being useful. A bench, breakfast nook, or windowsill can become a great spot for morning relaxation or reading by placing some clay-toned cushions near. This combination of soft reds and browns looks like the sun-dried terracotta.

Put brick, sienna, or adobe cushion covers made from textured cotton, linen, or canvas on your furniture. Get more depth in your room by mixing solids with patterns that have stripes or shapes. This combination looks perfect when used together with white walls, wood, and natural stone in the kitchen.

For my kitchen nook, I put a group of pillows with clay tones, covered the floor with jute, and added a rustic wooden bench. Dwell magazine supports adding comfort to everyday places by using several textiles with one basic color, and I completely agree.

A nearby wall sconce or a pendent lamp made of ceramic will bring this area to life and ensure good lighting.

Use Golden Hour-Inspired Wall Sconces

A wonderful thing to do is to highlight your kitchen with golden hour-inspired sconces. These items give a subtle, straight-forward light that behaves much like late summer sunshine. They help enhance the warmth in rooms at nighttime.

Pick models with glass in amber, brass, or copper details, and curved glass shades that soften the light that comes out. Put them above an open shelf, next to the breakfast nook, or by the door of your pantry. As a result, various styles and sources of light give the area more design and warmth.

I recently installed such sconces in a client’s kitchen and the results were stunning—the whole room took on a cinematic quality around dinnertime. Luxe Interiors + Design thinks that warm lighting is one of the best ways to give a softer appeal to modern kitchens.

You should also try using the same design of hardware in the faucets and cabinet pulls to help everything match well.

Integrate Mango-Yellow Appliances For A Pop

For a kitchen with a happy and sunny touch, nothing works as well as mango-colored appliances. The warm color matches the golden light of early evening and brightens up the room at once. Beginning with a set of colorful sections or important appliances, for instance, a mango-colored fridge or a colored retro stove, is a way to tie together the whole kitchen and give it life.

I usually employ enamel-finished mango yellow appliances in order to highlight the neutral colors of the cabinets. Placing a bright yellow oven next to white cabinets or a colorful toaster next to gray countertops makes the room look more attractive. Appoint the space with bronze pulls on the cabinet and a wooden island to make it earthier in design. I also prefer to keep an open shelf above the stove, full of citrus dishes or old classic spice jars to match the natural finish of the stove.

I have seen clients respond positively right away since growing plants at home is a bit like having the sun shine in their living space. According to Apartment Therapy, yellow appliances can help improve the look of a dull minimalist kitchen, and I really think this is true too. Using colorful appliances along with white walls was suggested to me, and it turned out to be very helpful for my projects.

I would suggest hanging a yellow pendant light above the island and using a yellow dish rack to match and pull the décor together. They do not require a lot of space and help to continue the color ideas in the room.

Contrast White Walls With Spicy Colored Accents

Although white walls work well, too much of them in summer may feel cold and unwelcoming. That’s why using spicy tinted items such as paprika, turmeric, cayenne, and even saffron makes a big impact in your meals. These tones give the picture a warmer and more interesting look over the plain canvas. I usually apply this approach to make the most of a small kitchen area.

A good approach for this theme is to have white cabinets or walls and balance them with orange bar stools, paprika-colored ceramic vases, or tiles with a turmeric pattern on the counter. Clay pendant lights give a home a warm and natural feel. Using saffron-shaded drawer pulls and shades or carpet runners in spice colors makes the home more special.

As a rule, I advise my clients to add each bright accent color over and over in three or more places. Styles become similar without making people match. So, according to HGTV’s Vern Yip, you can update your color palette by using bright accessories throughout the season, just as we want for our summer kitchen.

If you wish to expand this section, a chili-red mural or just painting the kitchen’s smaller nook area might be an interesting addition. It doesn’t cost a lot but still brings a strong and seasonal touch.

Paint Pantry Doors In Zesty Lime Or Sunset Pink

The doors to your pantry might not seem important in your kitchen designing, but they can be fun to use as a splash of color. With a zesty lime or sunset pink paint on your pantry door, the whole kitchen is illuminated and looks great. Because they are refreshing and have energy, these shades are fit for summer kitchens that are bold and full of surprise.

Recently, I applied lime green paint on the pantry door highlighting the look of the already existing white and wood cabinets. The warm coloring made the yellow areas of the room’s decor stand out and matched the citrus rug underneath. Sunset pink is another choice I have made, added to that list as a subtle coral-orange that works wonderfully with brass and cream-colored cabinets. The frames that allow these colors to stand out best are style of molding or panels called shiplap.

This style is very useful in homes with an open-plan layout since the kitchen can be seen from living spaces. The bright hue attracts you and helps make a little kitchen your own. As they wrote on House Beautiful, if you paint your door in summer-themed colors, you’ll see a noticeable transformation.

To finish the theme, I would suggest you use a step stool, a colorful bowl, or drawer liners in the same style.

Style A Vibrant Citrus-Inspired Kitchen Bar

If your kitchen includes a kitchen island or peninsula, it’s ready to become a colorful citrus-themed bar. Achieve a fresh summer feeling by piling different orange, yellow, and lime accents on chairs, shelves, and bar countertops. It is full of youthful flavors and makes summer entertaining more fun.

You could make an entrance with orange vinyl bar stools or ones that are rattan and painted yellow. Hang wood shelves above the bar counter and arrange the glasses in colors such as green and orange. Have citrus-slice coasters, a piece of lemon-painted ice bucket, and put out bottles of orangecello or citrus bitters. For the backsplash, I usually go for a tile mosaic of warm colors such as marigold, peach, and lime.

This idea is always well-received by clients since it’s both timely and useful. Being a place for meals and drinks relaxed moments, it becomes a central area for parties or gatherings. Elle Decor suggests using flashy bar devices and citrus prints in kitchens to make them look more welcoming, and in my experience, this really helps open spaces stick out.

You could put an overhanging shelf or a wine glass rack in the same citrus tone, as it adds use to the bar and gives you another space to show or store things.

Whether you’re drawn to the zesty charm of citrus tones or the warm glow of sunset-inspired accents, there’s no shortage of creative ways to bring summer into your kitchen. I hope my ideas have given you ideas for making your home look fresh this season. Which kind of poetry appealed to you the most?
